Discussion about
I'm considering doing 4 body sprays in a new shower. For those of you who have them, do you actually use them? Any recommendations as to what matters in choosing among the many body sprays on the market? Thanks.

Where would you have the sprays point?

I guess this wasn't a serious post.

It's a serious post. However, I'm still waiting for a serious response.

Here's your serious response.

I've renovated a couple of places and once added a whirlpool tub that I simply **had** to have.

I used it a couple of times and never used it again.

These things look so fun in the abstract, with all the fancy sales materials. The novelty wears off fast.

What I do really like is dual shower heads, one a hand shower and one a regular shower. Easier to clean the shower area and wash the big Golden Retriever with the hand shower. We bought ours at Ace Hardware, after a history buying Grohe and Moen and a bunch of other expensive pieces of fixture metal. Looks brand new after a year.

So I would think this over. Your money might be better spent on a terrific piece of furniture, or a painting, or something else you can take with you when you move. And eventually you will move.

Also, unlike a jetted tub, which may appeal to buyers with back problems or arthritis, I don't think extra shower heads even register with most buyers--based on my experience as an agent. People really don't notice that kind of thing, and if they do, they don't care very much.

In fact it might work against you a little bit as being too personal, too specific, a renovation. Buyers want to make your place their place, they don't want to constantly be reminded of you.

Is that what they call it now, washing the big Golden Retriever?

Maybe you do. I was talking about my dog.

Amen! Best $70 I ever spent:

Set it so they're both on at the same time. Easily get to all those hard to reach places. Ha!

Thanks, Flutistic and West34. This has been very helpful. I've abandoned the idea of body sprays and now I'm going down the route of a rain shower combined with a handheld that would be used as the primary showerhead for the regular showers. The idea would be to just use the rain shower on the weekends - or whenever there's time to take a longer, more relaxed shower.

FormerRenter -- I highly recommend that $70 Ana Bath unit. Super easy to install, works amazingly well, and looks like it costs 3 times the price. I've had a few people comment after using the shower (not at once) "I MUST get one of those!" Especially handy when cleaning the shower too. And if you dont like it, you're only out the cost of a good burger and glass of wine.
