Discussion about
Has anybody replaced ugly chicken-wire lot-line windows with DOB approved modern alternatives? Modern condos appear to have consistent windows on the lot-line and I'm assuming they are DOB approved. Not sure what alternatives may exist out there.

I did some research into this about a year ago and would recommend talking to Skyline Windows. They can do a non-chicken wire window that looks normal but still complies with DOB requirements. I never got as far as comparing prices but was told it would be "a lot" more expensive than the chicken wire equivalent.

You will have to file for the window replacement and therefore should speak with a Licensed Architect who can give you a host of options. The chicken wire provides a "rating" and yes, there are approved assemblies but the Architect filing the project with the DOB would have to counsel.
