Discussion about
We are renovating our place. We planned to use heater water heating system; however, our GC is recommending to use the Mitsubishi split systems for heating and cooling. I am concerned that the split system does not function well in cold conditions; any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Most of the Mitsubishi heat pumps don't lose their output until the outside temperature dips below 5 degrees F. You can find some specs in this document: http://www.mitsubishipro.com/media/382145/m-series_revised_july13.pdf

I have a Mitsubishi split system for cooling; we don't use it for heat, so I never explored the efficiency of the heating side, but I'd give that some consideration when making your decision. In my case, I'm already paying for steam heat from the building, so it didn't make any sense to also pay for electric heat.
