Discussion about
Can anyone comment on the Kitchenaid Architect Series for microwave and fridge? The microwave is an over-the-hood and very attractive (stainless with no black areas). I am wondering about performance though. Thanks.

Try over on thathomesite.com in the appliances forum. You can search there too.

I have the microwave (since earlier this year). Seems fine so far. It's just a microwave - what kind of performance are you looking for?

One thing that's sometimes annoying is the fan has an auto mode where it will refuse to shut off until the stovetop cools down.

I've got the Architect Series II range (gas convection), and I think my KA overhead microwave (w/ convection oven) is the same series (same styling & handles match). I like both of them quite a bit, although the vent fan in the microwave is fairly noisy, even on low. On my unit the control panel is a black touchpad (as it is on the oven) -- I don't remember an all-silver model being available. I didn't think I'd ever use the convection oven in the microwave, but it's turning out to be my favorite feature.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm just looking for lack of problems. I don't need anything notably high performing.

Just remember that the "over the range microwaves" don't last more than 5 years, even the simple ones.

Mine has lasted 8 years.

My mother's has lasted 28 years.

Maybe you just don't know how to use them.
