Discussion about The Harmony at 61 West 62nd Street in Lincoln Square
Hi everyone, Please help with 2 questions. 1)Ze bugs... From a different thread about the Harmony, someone alluded to a possible roach problem. I'm thinking of renting or buying into this building. Can any long-term owners speak to any possible roach problems? I'm not a fan of roaches. Even though I've been in NYC now for 14 years, I just can't deal with them. I've been lucky so far in my apartments: no roaches. 2)Is the coop board fairly liberal with its subletting policies? Even though it's a coop, I see fairly many rentals on STreeteasy? Please share any insights. Thanks. (I"m going to see a place soon, but just wondering for any inside information.) Thanks K

Longtime resident, NEVER have seen or heard of anyone having roaches. EVER. The staff in this building is abundant and nothing sits in trash area very long. I think they must pick up the recycle in trash room 3 times a day, at least. The rest is trash chute. Building is super clean.
Hi Happy,
Thanks so much! You've reassured me. Can you by chance tell me about the subletting policy? Thanks so much in advance. Khoi
Luuk, don't be a fool. Are you going to trust someone with a "happyatharmony" handle? How objective can this person be?
Not sure about subletting policy Khoi. The front desk could give you info perhaps or at least someone to contact for that info.
Longtime resident with nothing to gain by posting here - and I can ASSURE you there has never been any kind of roach problem, or any problem with cleanliness in general. Trash chute and recycling rooms (on each floor) are maintained and cleaned 3 times a day. The building is very well taken care of.
As far as subletting, I believe the board does go by the 2 year max rule, and they do need to approve the tenants.
We purchased an apartment in The Harmony a year ago, and I have not seen one critter yet. I agree with the other residents, they clean the trash room a few times a day, and common areas are meticulously well kept. They allow 1 year subletting, and will extend it for a 2nd year depending on circumstance.
another resident. knock on wood, this is the cleanest building I've lived in in the city never seen any critters. don't know about subletting
