I have experience with Cardinal, who renovated my kitchen last year. Although the salesmen and construction crew are decent people, I was underwhelmed by the finished product. Cardinal's biggest problem is lack of project management, which leads to sloppiness and mistakes. They have 2 project managers, Ronnie and Louie, who oversee numerous jobs per month. These guys tend to spend time onsite at the bigger gut renovation jobs and pay short shrift to the smaller jobs (i.e., just a kitchen renovation, which, ironically, is Cardinal's bread and butter). As a result, mistakes are made and there's a complete lack of coordination or interfacing amongst the trades. Also, Cardinal leads you to believe that their construction crew is entirely employed by them, but the electrician and plumber are independent contractors, and the electrician, in particular, is sloppy and unimpressive. Similarly, their cabinet installers are quasi-independent; they do most of their work for Cardinal, but without the benefits of employment. Given all these independent subcontractors, and the lack of job oversight, there's ample opportunity for screw-ups. If the screw-ups are cabinet-based, be prepared to wait because their cabinet vendors are in Canada. Also, the Canadian cabinet lines they offer are inferior to American lines such as KraftMaid, for example, or Woodmode. If left to their own devices, their construction is merely adequate, with significant room for improvement. However, if you push them, Cardinal eventually will remedy all the problems, but the pushing is time consuming and frustrating. I am not familiar with Berceli so I can't comment.
