Does anyone have any experience with this building? (the discussion on it is now 5 yrs old). Is it well-run? Lots of neighbor noise? Any complaints? Any input much appreciated!

Several friends live there and say they are continually having water shut off. Apartments and lobby looked nice when we were in the market.

In my opinion, not much has changed. No amenities. Air conditioners protruding through windows. Some layouts are odd, with narrow bedrooms or cramped baths. Design is taste specific (you must like brown trim on the walls.)

And don't forget to ask the folks who live there about the old heat radiators that start up hissing and banging at the crack of dawn.

According to the Department of Buildings online information (as of 6.5.20), the scaffolding in front of this building has been up for 2,456 days (over 6.5 years) and there are 18 open violations. If this is true, what's up?

The Belnord Hotel at 209 W 87th, very close to this building which is at 88th and West End, was turned into a homeless shelter for over 100 men. Does anyone know how long it's going to remain a shelter--or is it really permanent?

Don't most prewar buildings have old heat radiators that start up hissing and banging at the crack of dawn? I know mine does, but they don't hiss and bang. Perhaps they have been serviced, because our super changed a valve at the top and bottom of the radiator and it is perfectly quiet, both when turning on and in operation. They come on 3 times a day for 5 hours each "run."

Concerning the homeless shelter, I found several articles such as this:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8603433/Upper-West-residents-fury-homeless-junkies-sex-offenders-moved-luxury-hotels.html

But I couldn't find any articles that say when the Belnord shelter is going to close or if it's really permanent. There might be such an article but I didn't see it.

According to the NYC Department of Buildings website, this building (575 West End Avenue) has a Partial Stop Work Order and 20 open violations (16 DOB and 4 OATH/ECB) and has had, over time, 41 complaints. You can check for yourself. I make no comment. December 5, 2021.
