Discussion about
Am I crazy for even thinking this? We own a pre-war co-op and the immediate neighboring unit (in a diff. pre-war building) is now for sale. Is it feasible to connect the two? Architecturally? Legally? Would the resulting 3+ bedroom/2.5 bath be worth more than the sum of its parts? ANY thoughts appreciated...

The only time I have ever heard of people doing this were when they owned both properties outright. I can't imagine how you would be allowed to do this in a co-op. As always seeking a real estate lawyer and even an architect would be helpful.

You mean, break the wall between two buildings that are not yours? Or you can buy an apartment across the street and build a bridge to connect them.
On the other hand, there's no law that says you cannot do this. So probable that's good enough for a good lawyer.
