My girlfriend and I are looking to move to NYC this summer and I'm trying to decide what neighborhood to live in. She has a 5 1/2 daughter whom I adore so schools are important. I'm in my early 40's, live a very active & healthy lifestyle, eat out about 40% of the time - enjoy unique restaurants with character, want a place that's close to parks or outdoor space, enjoy walkable neighborhoods, prefer a great coffee shop in the morning vs a lively nightlife. I'm not a big shopper, couldn't care less if there's no retail close by. I've been told by my friends who know NYC that I'd really like West Village but I'm concerned there's not enough outdoor space close by. Granted I don't know West Village very well, so I don't know what the outdoor spaces are like. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!
