I am a former shareholder of this building. I lived there three years and noticed consistent issues throughout my time there. First, the common areas in the building had a consistent, noticeable odor. They were also noticeably dirty, as the superintendent of the building , who actually lives in the building, only cleans once per month, and sometimes not even that often. Dust was constantly present. Perhaps worst of all, the laundry room is really small and dirty. It does not appear that it is ever cleaned. I raised all of these issues with the super and the building's management, and the issues were never resolved. In one instance, I confronted the super in person about the laundry room, and he proceeded to clean with a dirty towel he happened to have on him.
So, the general theme of my time at 342 East 53rd Street was lazy and incompetent maintenance by the super and either ineffectual or simply unresponsive performance by the management company.
