To start off, I'm an international student. I've been looking for a new apartment and I finally found one that I liked in Williamsburg and since I'm an international student I always ask them first about ways for me to be able to get qualified. The apt I used to live in accepted an international guarantor and one that I'm living in right now, I had to pay one year's upfront. And actually my parents prefer paying one year's upfront unless they accept an international guarantor, because otherwise I would have to get an insurance which will cost additional one month rent. And I even always look for no fee apartments because I don't wanna pay a broker fee. Anyways, so after viewing the apt, we went back to the leasing office and I asked if I can pay one year's upfront and the guy at the leasing office said "YES" without even a little bit of hesitation. I thought about the apt for another day and finally almost decided on that and went to see it again for the last time before I put my application in. After I got back, I talked to my parents who are back in my country about the apartment, talked everything out and they sent me the money so that I can hold the apt. I filled out the application and everything and right before I was about to send them my application I double checked if they accept one year's upfront JUST IN CASE. But then the guy who was communicating with me (not the guy who said yes) said they don't accept one year's upfront but only Insurent...... I'm like WTH. It was like the end of the world to me because I had a really hard time deciding and had just given up the other apartment that I was deciding between. It may not sound as bad but it is a really bad situation for me....... since I need to get the process done by this week. The thing about Insurent is also not just the money, they need my parents' annual income to be x40 or something...... They can pay my one year's upfront but not earning THAT MUCH every year. I'm trying to directly talk to the management, I really want to also because their whole service is really bad, like the leasing office never answers calls, they reply emails like days later when trying to see the apt and it's definitely their responsibility because the guy delivered wrong information. The guy who said YES should've been more careful about his answer. What do you guys think? Please help me out!!!! :( What if I hadn't double checked and signed the lease, right?!?!??? I really don't think I can get Insurent, Are there ways I can convince them to accept one year rent upfront? I honestly don't even understand why they don't...... It's a luxury rental building managed by a management. [less]
