Discussion about 100 Reade Street #6B
Why would you get this apartment, when there is a nearby alternative that is in a brand-new construction, with 24 hour doorman and for a similar price: http://streeteasy.com/building/reade-chambers/4c For Sale by Owner = Irrational Pricing?

The new one's CCs are ~$1,000 higher.

Agreed. But over a five+ year period that only makes up about 5% of the cost of the units.

Haven't been to see either but my guess is that the views are better (perhaps substantially better) from the sixth-floor unit.

I think it's somewhat of an apples/oranges comparison. 4C has an additional half bath, and a better floorplan, though 6B may have the better views (haven't seen either -- just based on being on a slightly higher floor). To my taste, there's enough to dislike about either, that neither would be of interest to me (open kitchens, bath location in 6B, that strange column in the kitchen in 6B, lack of closets in both).

I can't believe we are talking about 1.6 million dollar apartments with all these shortcomings!
