Combining apartments

Thinking about buying the apartment next door, but given the asking price I'm not sure it is cost effective. Would like to bring in an architect to give me an initial estimate with respect to cost for the project, as well as, telling me which, if any, are load bearing walls and what a reasonable layout would be for the combined apartments. Interested in any recommendations for an architect to do this and anybody's experiences in doing this.
