co-op apartment co-shareholders in dispute

Two co-shareholders are fighting over their co-op apartment. The party living in the apartment, a widow, wants to get all the interest. The other party, mother of deceased son, wants to get her half of the money. Mother and son's names were the on the stock and lease. The mother doesn't have these documents, but the widow may have them and claims that she doesn't and had tried to get replacements in her name only. I wanted to know what the process is for the mother to get her half of her interests.
