I am writing this to warn the community that the landlord of this unit is a crook. I have just moved out of the apartment 2 months ago after a year-long tenancy only to find out that the landlord has decided to keep my entire security deposit of $21,000 because I discolored the surface of his polished-wood radiator covers. Besides such swindling, dirty behavior, he had failed to respond to my requests for help/maintenance/questions throughout the year when I was living in his apartment. I paid $7000/month for a proper, nice 2BR converted into 1BR apartment only to end up sleeping on the sofa-bed in the TV room because he refused to fix the blinds (which were already broken when I moved in) in the bedroom. Even though I have heard this happening here and there, where landlord refuse to return deposits, it is still a shock when it happens to you, especially when it is $21,000 at stake, and all the more so when you know you are essentially helpless in the situation. So just a fair warning to all renters out there: AVOID this rental listing and check the conditions of your new rental before you move in. [less]
