Discussion about
It's this membership club where you join and it allows you to purchase household items (furniture, appliances, etc) directly from the manufacturer at cost. I'm wondering if it's worth checking out.
I read a BUNCH of reviews of DirectBuy (by searching on Google) because I was considering joining their "club" recently. There were so many bad reviews (more than I could count) that I decided not to even keep my appointment, which I had made the week prior to my research, to talk to them. One of the online reviewers summed it up as "RUN, don't walk AWAY from this company". Yikes. The fee to join was thousands of dollars so it didn't seem worth the risk given the huge number of bad comments. Do your own research online and see if you find the same thing.
I second that. I did go to an appt and found that they are sleazy. Only worth it if you're doing a lot of rennovations and know exactly what you want and comparable prices.
The real kicker came after sittin through their schpeal...I was told I had to decide RIGHT THEN AND THERE whether I wanted to join or else would not be allowed back. Their ad didn't indicate this at all.
I told the guy I was just at the beginning stages, hadn't even signed the contract on my place or passed the coop board so it's too soon for me to know what I need ... and he got mad and said, 'how do I know you're not going to take our information and use it to negotiate with retailers?...you're saving money, what's not to decide?'.
I walked out. So angry I was determined to find every home decorating web blog and blast them...but as jrobbins points out above, I found this was already done.
NY has enough places where you can get a deal on what you want. don't wast your time with these jerks.
I'm one of those guyz that has no patience & I joined right away and I AM TRULY SORRY!
Yes, its possible to buy things at great discounts IF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT.
I see their ads on tv here in Boston & they do have an odd sound to them. "We saved $50,000",etc. with a hyper credulous tone. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
