This listing may be a scam or illegal...something definitely fishy. I made an appointment to see this place, and when I showed up in the lobby, the broker wasn't there. I texted and called him, and he said that he didn't know my number to get in touch with me to inform me that the "landlady" was delayed due to the rain. (It was just lightly raining...is she serious about renting this place?) That's BS...I had texted and even emailed him to set up the appointment...I suspect the broker just forgot. In any case, my wife spoke to the concierge about apt. 3B, who, officiously, said that that apartment was NOT for rent and that he was aware of the apartment. Odd.
Anyway, I told the broker that I was leaving...he had essentially wasted my time. He later called me to say that he needs to arrange things with the landlady...a "balancing act." Odd again...I thought we had arranged this before! Now, when I check the listing, the price has risen to $6000 and it's off the market? What the hell is going on here?
And note, the apt's price had risen to $6000 and was taken off the market the very same evening that all this happened. I find it hard to believe that it was "rented." Either this listing was never real, the "landlady" was never serious about renting, or the co-op thinks this unit should not be for rent...either way, I don't want to get involved.
