Discussion about 155 Perry Street #1B
It is a lovely apartment but I found mouse droppings under the kitchen sink on my visit. I'm sure the owner will handle the issue but I found it too risky.

Mice can damage wiring by chewing through insulation. If you're finding droppings, it's a mouse infestation---I speak from severe mouse infestation experience. I would not feel comfortable unless the electricity were examined throughout the unit, at least check for grounds. Also--a cat who's a good mouser would have to be permitted. Cats rescued from the street, available from folks who do that through Petsmart, are effective. We hired exterminators who made nary a dent on our problem, which was finally ended by a cat PLUS an exterminator who was a mouse specialist.

Cats don't even necessarily need to be good "mousers". Just having them in the home, leaving their scent everywhere is usually enough to deter mice (at least divert them to another apartment).

Do not adopt a cat solely because you have mice. Adopting a cat is a lifetime commitment. Consider deterring mice a fringe benefit of furry, funny, companionship and affection. If that's not an attractive proposition for you, buy a mouse trap. A cat is a member of your family whose "chore" is keep mice out and eliminate them if they manage to get in. Cats are wonderful friends, but using them and not providing them with the attention and affection they deserve for is despicable.

So much sympathy for the cat, and none for the mice.
