Discussion about The Westbourne at 611 West 137th Street in Hamilton Heights
"Amenities" include a street door that never locks, has been wide open, day and night, for weeks; an elevator that rarely works, necessitating climbing 5 flights with packages, etc; a roof that leaks when it rains; a "virtual doorman" system that never works.

Alpine Hiker I would be grateful if you could say the exact brand of the "virtual doorman" system, as our building is shopping one. It is probably either: Virtual Doorman, Cyberdoorman, or Video Doorman. Thank you.
If you move in here, your on your own as the super is impossible to get a hold of. beware.
I don't live in this building but I used to live on this block and there is some goon that parks their car in front of the building every god damn night and blasts music at max volume on this block. Parked right in front of the 611 building in the Westbourne complex. Guaranteed. Beware! I came back here a few days ago to visit a friend at night and the guy was there as usual.
The exteriors of these buildings are truly gorgeous. Doesn't make up for the interiors which are the product of shoddy renovation, I don't know who they contracted to do the gut renovation of the specific units but the craftsmanship is subpar. The pressed faux-wood floors are pretty unimpressive.
It is absolutely not worth the markup. It's not a luxury building at all. The rent is absurd--you can find equally priced rentals in significantly more upscale buildings 20-30 blocks down in prime Manhattan Valley.
Um... Isn't this in Harlem?
Yeah. And?
irschober is right on with the "annoying loud music guy". I've called 311 and the cops several times on him. police stop and talk to him for awhile and he'll turn it down only to turn it back up as soon as they turn the corner. i live on the higher floors so I've watched him do deals all the time on the street and the police obviously are aware of him so I don't know why for the past year they haven't arrested him yet. As for the building, everything looks nice at first but sucks when you look closer.
