Discussion about
Any 3-D thoughts? I like it because it shows useless areas like foyers that are part of square footage. Also I like the show of the flow.
...the visual impact of useless foyers on sq footage... plus you really get to see the benefits of an open layout vs load bearing walls everywhere
I made a 3D CAD diagram of my kitchen design. I found this very helpful because I could "walk around" the kitchen design to see if I liked the layout, etc. I've expanded the diagram to include my dining area and living room. This was very helpful in placing furniture. When I get a chance, I will add the rest of the apartment to prepare for additional renovations.
I'd love it. Agree with the points above. Also you can see the impact of ceiling height. I think it will be very helpful, but they'll probably cost a lot more and therefore only premium listings will have them
Given how inaccurate so many of the regular floorplans are, I can just imagine the mess that 3D plans will be, not to mention the potential to be highly misleading. I'd rather see accurate and more detailed floorplans, and documentation of ceiling heights.
Aaron..how can the -3D be inaccurate?
feelhong...i agree about the benefits of ceiling height visibility
Maybe it's some kind of brainlock, but I can't read them. Whenever I see a listing with a 3-D plan, I go back and look up the old 2-D plan instead.

Me too. Maybe it's their being done on the cheap, with the proportions all wrong, or there being no dimensions noted, or something. Maybe a CGI walk-through would be better, but still wouldn't be as good as a plan and photos for visualizing the space.
