Discussion about Leonard Pointe at 395 Leonard Street in Williamsburg
Good: Beautiful building, beautiful apartments. Amazing amenities (pet grooming, indoor theater, gym, business center with a 3D TV, etc). Bad: Just moved in and on DAY ONE there was a gas leak. I called National Grid and they said "whoever did this literally did not care. it looks like it was tightened by hand". Also found a chinese take out menu and the air blasting heat the day I moved in. Now the heating randomly doesn't work and it's freezing, and apparently the super lives in the building but is "nowhere to be found". Also Frank the doorman is rude and condescending. And the building won't have rooftop amenities ready until June.

Follow up to this: finally manager of building showed up two days later, and the one chance management had to make up for the situation, they blew it. He had a condescending tone and was incredibly rude. Kept blaming the contractor and was essentially saying "yeah it happens, sucks for you". Imagine if your pet or child were at home and didn't know how to deal with the situation. Believe me, you don't have the time/patience to put up with management that risks your life and then shoves you off like that. Williamsburg has plenty of new luxury apts, skip this one. Already regret signing this lease - DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.
I think I know what neighborhood this is in.
always check the management company of any building you rent in.
Why my comments and those of many others living in this building are not posted? this is not a transparent service.
I see now it is posted. There must be some glitches as many other tenants tried to post without success. What I wanted to say is that the building is not finished and all the tenants are facing many problems( water leaks, window that do not seal well, cold etc...) however the biggest problem is the electricity bill. It ranges from 300 USD(studio) to 900USD(2 bedrooms) and it has not been explained well why this happens. We do assume we are charged for something we are not using or our meters run in an unusual way. Do not move until this issue of the electricity has been solved as you would end up paying so much for not even using your apartment.. The rest is fine and it is a very nice building.
Sounds as if you're paying for electric heat. Ask the super whether the boiler in the cellar is for more than hot water.
Is the heat totally electric or is it gas? Can any past/present residents answer this?
