Discussion about 213 East 2nd Street #7
Listing looked very interesting, although clearly overpriced, so we went to the open house scheduled for Sunday from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm all the way from the Upper West Side where we currently live (it's very far...) and found the agent, sitting on the stairs of the building next door, who told us that "she did not have the keys". She barely apologized and did not offer any alternative (at a minimum she could have taken our names and contact info and offered to reschedule at a time convenient for everybody.) Incredibly poor service for a $4mm listing. We will move on.

Broker probably wants to sell it to their own buyer not you so they conveniently forgot the keys. Absolutely amazing that this can happen and after property "SELLS- ITSELF" she will get her 40,000 commission possibly 80,000 if she sells to her buyer. What an unbelievable racket!
PANY at least you won't be the buyer paying this person's commssion.

Twice during my apartment hunt was I not able to see units because there were screwups with the keys. In one case, the seller (an estate) had not left the keys with the super as promised, in the other case, the seller left the wrong set of keys. Maybe this broker had a similar bad day. Maybe you didn't express enough interest as a serious buyer to make her want to show the place at another time (you clearly think it's overpriced, and if she's got an offer near ask, why should she show it to an obvious bottom fisher?). If you're actively shopping, get your broker to give her a call and set up an appointment. If you can't get enough real estate porn online and need to see it in person, you can wait until the next open house.

The psychology of the market abusers hurts my brain.

Seeking to double money on a 2011 purchase on east 2nd street and avenue B is pretty nutty. The staircases here take up so much room this is probably north of $2500 per usable square foot. That psychology hurts my brain.
