Discussion about
I am looking for recommendations for the shallowest recessed lighting fixture you know of that can only accept CFLs or LEDs (in order to comply with new energy code requirements that I've heard about). I have an 8 foot ceiling but need to add lighting. I'm thinking of dropping the ceiling and/or doing a soffit, but would like to keep the drop to the minimum required. Unfortunately I can't channel through the concrete ceiling slab. Thanks so much.

You can get LED ones that are virtually flat, thinner than 5/8th drywall.
