Co-op building financials

I'm in the process of purchasing a unit in a co-up building. I'm currently in contract and yesterday my lawyer sent over over the financial statements from the building and asked that my accountant review them. I was under the impression the attorney reviews these documents. Is it normal to hire an accountant to review building financials? What should I be looking for if I want to review them on my own? Appreciate the help in advance. Thanks, Paul
