Discussion about
What happened to the Streeteasy website design? You used to be able to pull up the old actual listings in the "past sales" section. This was useful to see the descriptions of similar apts as well as the maintenance charges.
We posted this complaint literally at the same time! Let's hope they fix it soon.
if this is a new design, it's a terrible idea. the listing description doesn't seem to be available anymore, neither is maintenance. i hope it's a bug and not a permanent feature.
(Also commented on the other thread) Sadly, I wouldn't be expecting them to fix this, because their interest now that they're owned by Zillow is more likely focused on promoting active listings (something they can more easily monetize) than providing an easily searchable source of historical activity (not to mention, reducing the public's ability to research on their own increases dependency on realtors, the site's primary advertisers)
i don't see how this is better for realtors - i'm in real estate and i still hate it. not sure why they would make this change.
I'm not so sure there are nefarious purposes. Could just be an oversight. I submitted a ticket asking them. SE even after Zillow has been really responsive and they fixed a few bugs after I reported them very quickly.
this is likely a big deal for realtors too since i'm sure a ton of them rely on streeteasy for their own comps analyses. hope streeteasy fixes this soon!!
You can still pull up info on listings, just click on apt #under past sales which takes you to another page, and click unit # again, towards the top, there should be the link to brokers listing.
A very unhelpful change - let's hope it's a mistake
Hello! Thank you for reaching out to us, we have not removed past listings from StreetEasy. This information can still be found on the site, please refer to our FAQ article for further explanation on how to access past listings on StreetEasy:

If you have any further suggestions or concerns, please reach out to Support@Streeteasy.com
StreetEasy, I read the article that you posted and I have to say it is a silly design, where we only had to click once on the listing straight from the Sales tab now we have to click at least 3 times and go from page to page. Why the change? How is this new way more helpful to any of us?
This is beyond unhelpful.... So it appears that the only actual past listing details are for units which previously on StreetEasy..... What a back-asswards way to present virtually no data.... You have to click multiple times to get there, and only if it was previously advertised on StreetEasy will it appear. Otherwise you have wasted your time. Wow, just wow....
And the new design is supposed to be easier? Really?
Terrible, Streeteasy. Please roll back the release!!!
Sorry Streeeasy, but the past listings do not come up. Yes, there is info on what a particular unit eventually sold for and who the current owner is, along with the UCC filings, but nothing about the past listings. Where are the old adverts showing the descriptions used by brokers, the old maintenance charges, etc This is helpful to determine if the apt was recently renovated and is a major determining factor on what the apt might be worth, as is the buildings maintenance history. Streeteasy, just leave well enough alone and don't break what wasn't broken!
Hi StreetEasy Users,
As you may have noticed, we have recently changed our Building Page design. The new Building Page design has been implemented to make Building Pages tidier, quicker on the uptake, and most importantly mobile and tablet friendly. Check out the new Building Page in your app! To learn more about the new design, please click on the following link to our blog where you will find a video showcasing the new updates - http://streeteasy.com/blog/updates-to-building-pages/.
Also, If you are having trouble finding past listings, please refer to our FAQ article for further explanation on how to access past listings - https://support.streeteasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/204369269. If you have any further questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to Support@StreetEasy.com.
Thank you for your input!
Not sure why I bother to do this but maybe 'they' will listen. I'm not an agent or a broker but it seems they don't like the changes much either.
What is wrong:
1. Active listings on the building do not contain a link to the floorplan of that individual unit. Why not?
2. Past activity includes a link to the all the floorplans of the building, not the individual unit. Why not?
3. Most importantly - past activity requires following multiple well hidden links to get to the actual listing. Why? You even broke this on the previous listings list on a current listing. Why? You make it so much hard to see old listing that may contain useful information/photos/history/etc that is not available in the current listing. WHY?
While I thank streeteasy for replying, I have tp say unfortunately it is not working. 9 times out of ten, if I follow the instructions and click kn the unit number in the past sales page, it just redirects me back to the main lage for the building, not to the historical listing for that unit.
Also, in general, as others have noted, this new feature is far less intuitive and more compicated than previously, where one could merely pull up all the historical activity and click directly on the desired historical listing (sold or unsold) without having to go down a rabbit hole of clicks and pages that, as I noted, often just bring you back to the main building page. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!
Agree with nyc511. Just tried to pull up an old listing with photos, etc. Doesn't work, despite what SE says. Who the heck at SE thinks up these stupid "improvements"?
Is there any way I can change my Street Easy version back to the old one as I was able to do when the previous SE actually went into effect? The norm would be to have an option to be able to change my page back if I want to.
Let me know.
Thank you,
The new site is not working the same way at all. As a NYC Appraiser, the past listings are no longer visible and read "Listing Removed". As an appraiser we can use withdrawn listings however with your new design they are no longer available. For a single family home, either a NYC townhouse or homes in Brooklyn and the Hamptons, there are no "units" to click to access the listing information. Please rectify the site as it is no longer useful in its current state. The site being the way it is now will impact the way brokers and appraisers are able to access information.
Being able to easily view the old listing was very helpful. Previous changes have been good however the most recent changes not so good...
Please for the love of Good God, give an option to go back to the old style. Pleaseeeeeee.
Come on now Streeteasy. You know it's not right. Is a fix on its way?
hopefully everyone keeps complaining and Street Easy can see that most of the users sit on a computer rather than on a phone do their research.
Does anyone else find it invasive that you can so easily find out who lives in a unit now? Click building documents and look up a unit and you'll see all the financing docs right there. I'm sure all these docs are public info but still it seems too easy to access. i'm personally uncomfortable with it....not to mention i'm not surprised brokers are not up in arms about it
I find it weird that in preview mode, I can see this post, but when I open the link (as of 10:15 5/18) I can't see it.
