Discussion about
Hi All, I'm hoping to purchase my very own condo in NYC, so I thought I'd ask you guys for a bit of advice. My budget is $750-$850K, I'm looking to make an all cash purchase and not take out any loans. What is feasible for me? Am I able to find a nice building in Manhattan or should I venture out? What should I look for in potential buildings? I'd like to live in a place that's nice, with a virtual doorman or a real doorman, I'm not picky about that. Mainly I'd like maintenance to be low. Should I hire a broker? Ideally, I'd like to turn a very small profit 15-20 years from now, and basically not lose any of the value... Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Annalise,

There are definitely apartments within your budget in Manhattan. Before you look for an apartment, you should decide what's important to you, some examples- location, size, closet space, high floor vs low floor, views, condition (are you willing to renovate or do you want it to already be in pristine condition). Using a broker will help you through the process and give you invaluable information to help your search. The seller pays the broker, not the buyer.
