Discussion about
I am doing a gut renovation of a pre-war apartment. The apartment is about 2k sqft, and I am considering installing either Central AC or going for a ductless system. The latter seems cheaper to install, operate and maintain. But the drawback is that they are noticeable on the walls, and temperatures across rooms are equalized (which of course is why they would be cheaper to run). I was wondering if anyone could opine on his/her experience with ductless systems.
Hi moji, we had a gut renovation of our pre-war apartment last year and we did consider ductless systems but ended up with central ac systems. It was because even the ductless system required having a vent outside, though it was smaller than that of the central air conditioning system. Since, we were not allowed to do any perforations in our apartment, hence our air conditioning company suggested us to go for the central ac system rather than the ductless ones. In fact, our architect who is an expert in pre war constructions actually suggested us this air conditioning company in our area called All Week Air Conditioning who helped us out in deciding what kind of system would be the most suited for our home. The cost of the whole renovation was also very affordable. If you wish, you can consult these guys on their website http://allweekairconditioning.com/air-conditioning-installations-nj.html where they also help you through their live chat system. Hope this helps!
