Discussion about
please help to oppose the NYC Sanitation Department's plan to build a 450K sq ft garbage truck garage and maintenance facility on 25th Street between the FDR and 1st Ave. This plan violates Mayor de Blasio's Vision Zero initiative and compromises the health and safety of neighborhood residents and those seeking care at Bellevue, NYU Langone and the VA Hospitals. here is the link for anyone interested for more information. If you live, or work or passing by around mid-town east. I think it is a really bad idea to build a giant sanitation garage right n the center of all the residence and hospitals. It will affect anyone who work, live and pass by the area.

The map shows four DS garages along the West Side Highway, so the east-side trucks have to drive all the way across town, unleashing all those alleged horrors as they go. Sounds as if it's the FDR's turn.

And NYC Sanitation shouldn't be building a Waste Transfer Station with an access ramp going right through the middle of Asphalt Green, near 3 new schools, near a housing project , and near Metropolitan Hospital. This also violates Vision Zero.

The West Side does have all those garages. But don't be surprised is everything is being moved to the East Side. After all, all the properties from the Battery to the Upper West Side on the west side of Manhattan are being turned into ultra-luxury condos.... The East Side above the Lower East Side no longer has cachet.
