http://streeteasy.com/building/stella-tower Who is the buyer at this kind of out of the way midtown west location? No nearby park either.

My grandmother used to say "beauty is what pleases you." Beautiful building; beautiful restoration and some people don't care if their apartment is tethered to the city or not. I feel the same way about the buildings (like the Avery) on the far west side. But some people love them. For me I'd prefer the Walker Tower as it is part of a neighborhood; but I can't afford either place

Your grandmother seems like a lovely and wise person. (And as an aside, clearly she is not from Tacoma, Washington)

What's wrong with Tacoma? I spent 8 very pleasent months there, way back when.

Depends on your definition of nearby: HK Park: 10th Ave btw 47/48th. DeWitt Clinton Park: 11th btw 52/54 (though I will admit those are long avenues), and 'way west' (btw 9th & 10th Ave? C'mon...)

Of more importance: Anybody know if the building is in the HK protected zoning area (which limits buildings heights) . As a taller building in a lower-rise neighborhood, it could have reasonably protected views for a ways into the future. Compare to the eruption of new high-rises along the 42nd st. corridor just south. Practically every day, somebody on a high floor in a new-ish building down there loses part of their view.
