Discussion about
Due to some financial crisis situation, I had to leave the house I lived for almost 7 years and settle in a rental condo near Toronto named Mac Suites, http://www.macsuites.ca/explore-toronto/. I moved my belongings to a friend’s garage temporarily, but his wife wants all of them removed as soon as possible. I cannot throw them away or sell as most of it are very valuable to me. I thought about getting a self storage facility, but using such services for a long time may be very expensive especially with my current financial situation. Any advice on how to deal with them will be really helpful.
OK, as a person who's had to do this: rent that self storage facility month to month, no long term contracts. Put your stuff there. Get into your new place. Then as soon as you can see your future better, go into that storage unit and figure out what you can live without, and sell it, donate it, or trash it.
Shirjam it's really hard to go through life dragging a lot of stuff, especially when you are susceptible to financial crisis situations.
What you may learn by putting things in storage is, after a bit you can't even remember what's in there. How can it be so important, if that's true?
Finally you can do what I did with a bunch of trophies I won in high school -- I made a nice display, photographed it, and then threw the trophies in the trash. Have not regretted it for one minute.
