Sharing a vacation home

Discussion about
We are looking to buy a vacation home and have come to the realization that we will probably use it a few times a month and sharing the home may get us a lot more home. We've spoken to our friends but most arent in similar financial situations and we are a bit nervous about the prospect of mixing real estate with our friends. I am just curious to see how many folks are out there in a similar situation. Let me hear your thoughts.

Is your idea to buy with another family, or to buy yourself and then rent to another family? What neighborhood are you looking in?
