Tipping super who managed our renovation

My building super did a great job at project-managing our <$200,000 renovation. He had picked the small contracting firm (which had done, under his supervision, earlier great work in other apartments in our building; I saw those before I committed). He guided the contractors with specific instructions based on those earlier jobs, so all we had to do was approve purchases and minor choices along the way. He claims (and I believe) that he's kept them accountable and on schedule. We love their work, and it was a great relief to trust the contractors from the start. From the start he said he'd do this for whatever tip I'd feel appropriate, not for a contracted fee. The question is . . . what WOULD be appropriate?

My OP apparently got mangled, so I'd like to restate my question. I picked a small contracting firm to do a <$200,000 renovation based on the advice of our super, who had suggested the firm, showed us work it had done on previous apartments, and gave them specific orders so I was able to trust the process from the start, and didn't have to make any major decisions.

The work is great, and his leadership made it easy. But he didn't want to propose or negotiate a fee in advance; just said pay him what I wished afterward. OK. I assume I don't have to tip the contractors, who own their own firm and hire their own subcontractors. But what do I tip my super, so I'm neither insulting nor overgenerous?

$150K, 3 months. The super gave them specific instructions on what decor, cabinetry, lights, and appliances to install, based on work in other apartments in the building. I didn't have to think about or worry about a thing.
