Discussion about
In a prewar coop, can I enlarge a kitchen by reducing the size of a second bathroom on the other side of the wall, if in the end the bathroom would no longer be ADA compliant in width? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Probably not if your coop unit is required to be compliant. I have a coop with a small powder room that I want to return to a small bathroom and I am being told I cannot do so because it will not be compliant. It is my understanding that if you do anything to bathroom like moving fixtures and walls, you must be compliant unless otherwise exempt.

Calbear, thank you for your thoughts. When you say "return" to a small bathroom, if it had at any point been a full bath, I thought you would be able to return it to the original since original non-compliant spaces are exempt - as I understand it. I recently saw an architect's apartment who had turned a small prewar, half bath into a commode, sink, shower. However, I didn't ask if it was compliant.
