keep your head up man - you'll find something better. In the meantime, spend some time with your family and chillax.

Troy - sorry to hear. But this is not a complete trend. I work in media/television and every single person in my company recieved raises.

I am not rubbing this in to Troy but am giving examples that some industries and or companies are doing well.

Troy_2008,

As others have mentioned, keep your head up and be positive. You will find something better.

petrfitz, why would you ever say something like:

"I work in media/television and every single person in my company recieved raises."

when someone just lost a job? That is completely classless and matches your vulgar language. seriously, leave that kind of chest-pounding in the gutter.

why would i say that MMAfia? Because naysayers like you will take this 1 case and claim that it applies to the entire economy and is a sign that real estate is tanking. I said it to fight people like you who try to make everything fit your personal belief and try to bully the rest of us into thinking your way.

Well, your ARE CLEARLY WRONG as I did nothing to that effect.

This is a fellow who lost his freakin job you slimeball. Show some respect or go back to that gutter you crawled out from.

why is he posting that he lost his job on a real estate board. his intention was to claim that his personal situation is reflective of a macro trend that is going to effect the entire real estate market. i did not want people to be mislead.

whatever petrjizz.

I don't want to turn this thread into all the other threads.

Troy_2008, I have some friends also in finance who are in similar situations. Some haven't gotten the notice yet, but have started planning... not sure what you academic/certification status is, but perhaps studying for the CFA (if you don't already have one) might be plan. It will certainly open doors that were previously locked if you don't have one. Just an idea.

nope i have never said i work in real estate. i make a lot of money owning and selling properties. my story is straight.

MMAfia - did you ever think that my example may give Troy hope that he can find another job relatively quickly in a different company or industry?

So why don't you post some useful contact information for Troy so that he can get a new job, rather than using this thread as your soapbox, perfitz?

Troy:

My sincerest wishes for better times ahead, whatever the future brings. Regardless of our viewpoints or anonymous venting, I'm sure we can all agree on that much. I wish I had something concrete to offer you. When you land on your feet, please post a new thread!

LOL, alpine. You're so hilarious! I think petrfitz is still working on his superiority complex. Hopefully, he'll get there someday.

Hey Troy, I hope they give you at least a good severance package. I recommend to take a few weeks off and relax for a bit before you start job hunting. :)

I tend to agree with Petrfitz--if you're newly laid off it is not "normal" to log on to streeteasy and start a new thread with that as a title. It's one thing to mention it in a relevant post. But, seems slightly agenda driven.

Either way, Troy will be fine...it will cycle back around.

there are thousands of troy 2008s. This is early 1990s all over again. You'll start hearing about tertiary cities like Atlanta again real soon, then in a few years NBC will put on a hit sitcom about a bunch of goofy jewish guys from NYC in a few years and the cycle will start up all over again.

eah, sorry to burst your bubble, but if there's one thing i've learned from perusing this board, it's that there are absolutely ZERO standards for what is "normal" or "acceptable" regarding the subject matter or tone or logic that is posted here.

while i'm at it, the other thing i've learned is that everyone thinks that posts are "agenda driven". everyone seems to suffer from delusions of grandeur -- thinking that these posts are going to somehow somewhere sometime affect the markets. you all need to get off your toothfairy-chauffered unicorns and get real. my guess is that there are three types of posters/readers here: (1) those that already have made up their stubborn minds about which way the market is going to go and therefore you're just blowing smoke up your ass trying to convince them otherwise, (2) those that come on here to actually learn something and find that there is crazy unfiltered babble bullsh*t being shot in all directions by a bunch of morons -- do you guys have any idea how you sound to an "outsider" that comes to this board looking for intelligent conversation? ... and (3) losers like me that come on here because we have too much time on our hands and have an eerie nostalgia for those good ol' days spent on the playground where we'd see kids shout "my daddy's bigger than your daddy" at each other and tease the weird kid that shit his pants during recess. remember him? most of you guys are just that kid that shit his pants.

i'd say one of the few exceptions on here is the urbandiggs poster. smart (but not in that pompous i-have-a-big-swinging-dick way), analytical, informative, balanced and cautious, and modest in delivery. the kind of guy you'd like to sit and have a cold beer with.

I think everyone knows which way this market is going (unfortunately). There's no unique insight required any longer.

Troy seems like the kinda kid who would have shit his pants during recess. Actually, a new brand of that kid, he probably told the other kids he shit his pants instead of waiting for others to identify the fact via smell.

And urbandigs would be the nice jewish kid who did his daily mitzvah by helping the kid to the school nurse, holding the door open for him and seeing what kind of money he could make off the deal.

I'd like to retract that last joke as it disgusts me that I allowed my anger at eah's comment to lower myself to his/her level. I apologize and sincerely hope that I didn't offend anyone the way eah offended me.

What's really scary is now when I go to work everyday I wonder if the hand will tap me on the shoulder. I never felt that way but like Troy these are hard times. Just the fear of losing your job will alter the real estate market.

dmag2020 - i'll also pass the message to my white trash family. try to pass a sense of humour on to yours. i actually respect UD and if he told me i went too far, i'd have said i was sorry. but, as i siad, he and i have fired shots for some time now.

interesting to me, though, that you'd actually assume i wasn't jewish also.

Actually, the house is not being built for any specific person. It's a spec house and is listed for $42.5 million:

Last night I watched the the Next Food Network Star. And today, I had a salad for lunch. I attended a teleconference call at 8:00. I need to meet with my client tomorrow and prepare for discussion points. The weather has been really humid lately affecting the potted plants on my terrace. I think they are having a 4th of July sale at Macy's starting this week.
