Discussion about
Which are the quietest blocks on the UWS below 86th Street? I'm talking about minimal noise from sirens, fire engines, ambulances, trucks, constructions, specially at night. Of course I realize this is Manhattan so you never here crickets!

The quietest blocks will be the streets between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive (with the exception of transverses like 79th, 72nd, etc.). I used to live on 83rd between West End and Riverside and it was lovely and very quiet.

Quietest is to live in a newer building with better soundproofing.

Yes you do hear crickets--if you live on Riverside Drive facing the park :-)

Keep in mind that a higher floor will always have less street noise than a lower level. Try to be at least above the 5th floor.

C0lumbia C0unty is a bit more "upper" Upper West Side than the OP I suspect was thinking.
