Hi all — I'm preparing to start renting on my own in the near future. No roommates, finally just me. Is there anything I should know or keep in mind as I begin my search? Thanks.

it's very easy to get scammed in the rental business. a highly educated friend of mine lost $5k a few years ago when a broker showed her an apartment which he basically broke into. just be careful and make sure that the 'broker' you are dealing with is licensed and therefore can be reported if he/she tries to screw you over.
