Wondering if anyone has any advice for me? I'm Moving to the Upper west side and I work all over outside of the city so I need a car in order to get to work everyday. While I was shopping around I was shopping around for parking I checked out three places. ICON Parkings website, ParkWhiz and SpotHero. Much to my surprise I found a rate for $300 a month right off ICON Parkings website at the parking garage where I will be living. My question is on my parking application for ICON Parking it asks if I am a resident of the building where i am parking. Would it be against my best interest to let them know that I am. My feeling is that if they know they may be more inclined to increase my rate in the months to come as I would be willing to pay more for parking in my building. Please let me know if anyone has experience in this. Thanks. [less]
This is a great question. My advice would be to ask the doorman of your building or perhaps a board member or a nice person at the management company for their opinion. You could also try asking a neighbor or two!
Not sure of your situation, but we get a discount at our garage. Ask your board/doorman/neighbor.
You are going to tell a material lie as part of a contract to save a few bucks?
I would think that they will know your address by billing, rental agreement, payments etc. I have not heard any stories of the increase being higher for building residents. In addition, if you want a parking tax break, you will need to give proof of address.
I have parked in my building for years, and I think I tend to get better treatment as a result of being a resident there.
We' eve had a VERY good discount as owners, for the parking in our building
Often it depends on who is managing the parking: if it is all monthly parkers and being managed by the building's managing agent it's one thing, but if it is being contracted out to one of the big parking operators it's another.
ICON is the parking operator in our building, not the managing agent.
In my experience a person can get better rates if they are a resident of the building, one big plus to being a monthy Icon person is you get 50% off on all other Icons (there are a few selected few who dont)as well as Quik Park, as they just merged
