Loft stairs

Currently I have stairs that go across my living room and up to my bedroom. I wanted to put these stairs in http://www.eestairs.com/en/36_1m2_by_eestairs_(efficient_stairs).htm my architect said he talked with 2 others and they said it will probably not be allowed by the DoB. Is there any way I can find out for sure before going through the filing process? Is there a requirement if the height is more than some amount?
