jimmy, I did some general research recently on Islandaire. In general, if you have a unit which is discontinued by the manufacturer, Islandaire is the most common option. PTAC units are relatively simple mechanism and Islandaire works just fine. I ended up buying Amana with heating as it fit the hole in wall. Hope this helps.

To add further, if your PTAC is a self contained unit, which was the case for me, Amana is fine. However, if the heat to the unit is supplied by the buildings (hydronic heat), the replacement options are limited.

Jimmy, Did you end up replacing your Suburban unit with one from Islandaire? I'm thinking of doing the same, my main reasoning is the sound level. Please let me know if you've replaced it and how the sound levels compare?

Thanks!
