how noisy is 9th ave. in this area?

The closer you get to 16th St (going downtown) the noisier it gets.

23rd Street also very noisy... Sirens etc.

I used to live on 22nd between 9th and 10 and had friends that lived in this building. I don't think noise is an issue at all in this location. 21st between 8th and 9th is also a beautiful Street. 9th Avenue ends at 14th Street, to some extent it limits the amount of traffic funneling through. A lot of traffic is going to turn at 23rd Street.
