Sale at 230 East 68th Street

Discussion about 230 East 68th Street
I walked down 68th and this out stood out because it seems that it has a shortened front door. I've never seen anything like it before. I didn't stand next to the door so I'm not sure how short it is, but from the street it looks like tall people would need to duck to enter the house. Has anyone ever seen another house set up like this, and any guesses what it would take to fix? It seems like you'd need to dig down into the sidewalk and put a step or two.

I can't tell you what the case is with this house, but a lot of houses which had high stoops had them removed and changed the main entrance to the garden floor have this issue. What is indicated as the study on the second floor of the floorplan could have been the original entrance foyer.
