Discussion about
With the increasing ubiquity of cell towers around NYC, I'm curious about buyers' and real estate pros' thoughts on whether visible cell towers exert downward pressure on a unit. Does it make buyers go 'hmm...' to see a cell tower out the window or are we so used to them at this point that they're just part of the expected urban scenery?
I remember looking at a unit in the grand madison. You were able to read serial numbers of the cell antennas on the terrace. I ran away and never looked back.
Yikes--you mean the tower was literally a few feet from the window? Crazy.
No not by the windows, but the penthouse units with a row of private outdoor spaces were parallel to the antennas. This unit was about 4 or 5 units from the end of the building (5th ave) where the antenna or transformer boxes(?) were mounted. Certainly literally a few feet from that corner unit, and still too close for comfort 4 units over.
It is strange that the building allowed cell towers to be placed on a roof with active terrace use... Not even sure that falls into proper compliance measures.
