Discussion about
Hi - I have sofa being delivered to my co-op building but the managing agent will not accept the delivery company’s COI due to a specific verbiage in the coverage (and of course the store/delivery company will not change that due to legal reasons). Does anyone know if I’m allowed to move the sofa in myself if I were to pick it up from the store? I’m assuming that I don’t need a COI myself since I’m a shareholder?
Sorry, I just found this. I'm not an attorney (and so this shouldn't be treated as legal advice) but the co-op's concern is generally 1) someone rams a sofa into a wall, and they have to fix the wall 2) someone drops a sofa on their foot and sues the co-op for a million dollars. Your insurance may well cover those contingencies better than the delivery company's COI, but you do need to check. I would frankly ask the super of the building what he thinks before running the question over to the managing agent, because being able to say "the super thinks ..." is often very powerful.
