Was she "baaad" before you got married or during the marriage? Because if it is during, then I'd say you as a couple have a problem that I'd not be at all happy about as a mortgage lender. If she racked up credit card debt or whatever before you were married and the problem has got no worse, then maybe that can be worked around.

Depending on what is affecting her credit, it may be something she can fix in a few months. If not, consider applying for the mortgage alone.
