Discussion about The Centra Condominium at 100 West 89th Street in Upper West Side
My fiance and I are looking into renting in this building...we have never lived in the UWS and are curious about the noise from the playground next door. Does it get very loud during the summer, on weekends? or do most families tend to go to central park? I love children, but also value some peace and quiet during the precious weekends when I can get it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with this particular building but my 2 cents would be if there's any doubt there is no doubt.
I recall looking in a building years ago that was right next to a public playground and my husband and I dubbed the apartment 'Screaming Kids'. We didn't call it by it's address, we didn't call it by the apartment number - just 'Screaming Kids'. Because indeed one could hear screaming kids from the unit, especially during the summer when windows were open and kids were hitting the playground in full force.
Keep in mind we are not yet in prime playground season - that'll be coming soon. So if you can wait and check back once things warm up, that would probably be the best way to gauge the impact of the noise.
If your wall or window faces the playground, you will have a lot of noise. Otherwise, it would not be much.
