Discussion about
Thinking of selling my Manhattan condo so I spent an afternoon recently in Randall Manor, near the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and SI Ferry. Nice enclave of mostly 1930's Tudor style homes that do not appear to see the high run up of housing prices that other neighborhoods in NYC have witnessed. Anyone with experience buying in this neighborhood?

Xi, I have resources for you. Drop a line to upstairsrealty [at] gmail when you get a chance, and please put "StreetEasy" in the subject line so I can find it.

Nothing of substance here, but I had a friend that lived over there many years ago before there were any signs of gentrification. I really liked the area a lot! I still occasionally poke through the real estate that's available in that neighborhood.

Yes, it's very nice area. I talked to the mailman who said the Randall Manor is a diamond in the rough. I think he meant that there are seedy areas surrounding Randall Manor and so not many people know of it.

I have seen prices go up fast in the boros and I missed out on both Bed-Stuy and Bay Ridge by less than a year. Well-located houses in these areas are now over $1 million but in Randall Manor, prices are closer to $700,000-$800,000. Randall Manor is about 20 minute walk to the ferry and 10 minutes by bus which is a faster commute than most gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhoods.

The area right around Snug Harbor is very nice but the general area is not as safe as the east and south shores of SI.
