Discussion about
Anyone with experiences turning your building smoke-free? Would expect this to be an advantage in selling and prices, but I don't know where to look for data.

I'm not sure that it would always be an advantage in selling and prices. People are becoming sensitive about buildings (both coop and condo) overreaching in restrictions, regulations, fees, paperwork, etc. You may alienate as many prospective purchasers as you ingratiate.

Totally agree. I am not a smoker, but don't think I would ever buy into a non-smoking building. Overreaching. Would be worried they will tell us what we can cook next

There was a building which banned cooking with works. Same issue (except I think people perceived racial undertones with that one).

I live in a building without smoking regulations and I wish it was non-smoking. My next door neighbor is a heavy smoker and sometimes I can smell it in my apartment. I have talked to him about it and he has air purifiers that are not really doing much. He's looking for a better solution but not sure if there's anything that really works. Can anyone recommend a more permanent solution for a smoker's apartment.

You have to create a negative pressure environment inside that unit.

My management co. sent out an email saying if anybody complains about smoke odor, the offender can be fined. I quit a long time ago so I don't care.
