TRD says Compass to buy Stribling

Yes wow.

I remember when Striving bought Wells & Gay I thought it was a big deal.

I'm surprised they're buying stribling. Why?

The things I could think of are:
1) they are getting a good deal because the Striblings wanted out? I know this is what happened when Stribling bought Wells & Gay. At the time I think they bought the agency plus the building on 23rd St for less than the building alone was worth,
2) Compass has tons of VC behind them and are feeling the competition from Berkshire Hathaway and other nationals to grow faster than they possibly can organically,
3) For some reason they are having trouble competing in the new development area with Stribling so it's easier to just buy them instead?

In any case I think what is behind it is that they have cash burning a hole in their pockets.
