Air Rights

I am close to signing a contract for a co-op in a building that purchased air rights in 1974 of the church next door in order to qualify for its high density. The rights expire but are renewable in 2031. My attorneys refuse to give me an opinion about what the language means and whether I am protected from future development next door. They are treating it as an unusual request. Should I not be concerned.
