Package thieves at 307 West 29th Street

After living here at 307 West 29th Street, I've realized that the management company is horribly negligent. There are package thieves in the area that frequent this building. It is pretty much impossible to guarantee that you'll be able to safely receive mail. Many times my packages are outright stolen. Other times, if I'm lucky, the thieves will open up the package and decide they aren't interested in it and leave it behind. The worst part is that several tenants have begged the management company to do something about this, and they just ignore our emails. It seems that after you move in and start paying rent, they stop caring about your living experience.

Make friends with Billy and Mark down the block to have your packages delivered there and then stop in, grab a beer, and pick up your packages.

I'm trying to imagine what management could do about this. The only way to solve this is to move into a building with attended lobby and package room, or as 30 says find a store nearby that will accept your parcels.

@30 is that at BillyMark's west? Always walk by it but never been in.

To answer @stache's question - the management company put cameras in. But when we notify them that there has been a package theft so they can review the tapes and help us do something about it (e.g., email around a notice with images of the thieves so we can know to be on notice or hang up posters, anything!) they don't answer our emails. Matter of fact, they have stopped answering our emails for anything and only reach out when they need something. I've lived in non-doorman buildings where this hasn't been as prevalent of a problem because the management team at least put some effort in to ensure our safety. BOTTOM LINE: DON'T MOVE HERE!! It's not worth the amount of things I've had sent that have been stolen.
